JAMAICAN HERITAGE STORYTELLING FOR KS2 PUPILS

An exciting event for KS2 children which explores Caribbean history and art using the work of Namba Roy, the Carver/Storyteller of the Maroons of Jamaica, and the storytelling skills of his son Tamba Roy.

Children will be enraptured by the stories; many of which are based upon the history of the Maroons, the first people to escape slavery in Jamaica. Tamba vividly explores his rich heritage using his newly published book 'A Gift for Anansi; images of his father's carvings and paintings; as well as insights gained from his own trips to Jamaica. One of the the first visits was filmed in England and Jamaica by the BBC for the documentary he narrated and starred in entitled 'In Search of the Spirit of the Storyteller'

Tamba's experience as a headteacher ensures that the KS2 Jamaican Heritage storytelling sessions are ideal for the ages of the children in the audience. Each session last for 50 minutes
