Tamba Roy is the son of the late Namba Roy, the official carver/storyteller of the Maroons of Accompong, Jamaica.. A title that is said to have been passed down through his family for many generations. (The Maroons were the first people to escape slavery on the island)
Tamba explores race through his father’s carvings, paintings and novels, his own journey to Jamaica, (filmed by the BBC), and of course through exciting storytelling.
Consultant Tamba Roy uses his extensive experience as a professional storyteller, a headteacher, a university lecturer and a professional therapist, to ensure events are stimulating, humorous and have a real impact upon pupils.
These exciting presentations include examining Namba Roy’s art, his Maroon history, as well as enjoying powerful storytelling sessions. (Many of which are based upon historical events from Africa and Jamaica.)
Born in England with a Jamaican father and an English mother, Tamba vividly explores his Jamaican Heritage with great skill, passion, and of course humour. His insights as a headteacher of two schools and as a professional therapist, ensure that sessions are very relevant and have a powerful impact upon participants.
